The SMH reports that Barbie has been outlawed in Saudi Arabia. While it might seem strange to an Australian to outlaw an institution such as Barbie, the Saudis' objections to Barbie are the same as people in many countries have been saying for years: Barbie has a well (some would say impossibly unrealistic) devloped woman's body, and she wears revealing clothes, thus giving children an unrealistic expectation of body image. I can safely say I never owned a Barbie doll. :)
